Brush Chipper Questions
how well do “wood Chipping machines” work that you can rent from tool/equipment rental places?
have heard of a 6 inch wood chipper that is said to do a good job ,,if have a bunch of brush that has been cut out of a wooded area..and is really too much to haul it away somewhere….will a wood chipper work quickly and easily ? how easily will it jam up and how can avoid this? (if know)
also, how QUICKLY it will chew up , say a small tree with a 3-4 inch diameter or even 6 inch diameter? (I am guessing it wont chew up anything 6 inches in diamter?)
IS THIS MUCH BETTER THAN HAULING IT AWAY? (IF CONSIDER TIME AND MONEY?)
HOW COMMON PEOPLE RENT THESE AND WHY? (DO THEY RENT THESE IN BRITAIN ?OR MOSTLY JUST IN USA? OUT OF CURIOUSITY)

BTW, HAVE QUITE A LOT OF BRUSH TO CUT DOWN..MOST OF IT BELOW 3 INCHES IN DIAMETER…BUT UP TO 6 INCHES IN DIAMETER..AND WILL CLEAR OUT AN AREA ABOUT 20 FT. DEEP AND 400 FEET WIDE..BY 1/3..AND IT IS QUITE WOODED.
Not so good.
It will get the job done for light brush but leave you with logs. And no it won’t take anything over 6 inches. In Tucson a 36 inch mouth makes one usable and practical. I highly recommend chipping for mulch, and if your debris is small these 6 inchers will work. If not rent a trailer and lay a 40 foot chain across the bed towards the front, lay the but ends to the front then layer back. As the layers increase “buck” it down with a saw while standing on top of the load. Your wieght and cutting causes it to settle and we often get 10,000lbs in a 7×16 trailer. Tie the chain over the top and pull to the back. When you get where your going tie the chain off and the whole load will pull out the back as you drive away.
